After years performing independently in other bands both in Australia and overseas, FIGURES unexpectedly came together at the start of 2014. After a short but fast whirlwind of auditions, jams and rehearsals the core members found a strong mutual bond and realization that they had something that worked. Vocalist Mark Tronson brings a unique style to the massive FIGURES sound. Influenced by the likes of Incubus, Tool, A Perfect Circle and 30 Seconds to Mars, he brings both sincerity and intensity to his delivery, with a balanced combination of uplifting choruses mixed with darker choices in verse melodies. Fast forward to 2015, which they spent writing and recording with some of Melbourne's best before making the pilgrimage to the US to meet and work with some industry heavyweights. All in all, it was a good year that provided the highs and expected lows, which ultimately resulted in a stronger and even more committed lineup.
What does this mean for 2016? This year witnessed the quintet release debut single "Filter" alongside a run of shows in their beloved city of Melbourne. April sees FIGURES return to the US to play some shows and revisit the opportunities provided in 2015, with an Australian tour scheduled to be announced later in the year.
